We all know what identity theft it right? Some thief uses your sensitive information such as your social security card, name and birth date and depletes your accounts. But what about synthetic identity theft? What is that? Synthetic Identity Theft occurs when a thief takes parts of people’s identity and forms a new identity. When thieves uses one social security number and a different name your social security number is flagged in a criminal database. This can go on for years without your noticing someone using your information until you are called in questioning of a crime you didn’t commit.

To watch over this, make sure you look at your yearly social security statement thoroughly. Also, if you get mail from someone else frequently you may be a victim of synthetic security theft. So pay attention and don’t fall victim!
